LICHFIELD MYSTERIES

As Musical Director and Composer-in-Residence, Heather has composed much of the music for this large-scale outdoor theatrical experience. The Lichfield Mysteries have taken place every 3 years since 1994, including performances in Lichfield Cathedral since 2000.

"Thank you for making The Lichfield Mysteries 2000 such a success. Your music has ensured that our plays are unique and so special."
Lichfield Mysteries Committee

“Music can be a problem to a group like ours who have pretensions to act, but not sing. Even though you had little time with us you seemed to have sussed our level immediately and, without patronising us, gave us something appropriate and simple enough for us to do without massive amounts of extra rehearsal. The net result was that it turned a competently acted play (we’d like to believe) into something that had a bit of a buzz and went down remarkably well with our audiences. ... we had audiences clapping along with our ‘ter-lee ter-low’ and even cheering as the lads sang their way off at the end. There was some fantastic music in the Mysteries, thanks again for helping us to contribute a little.”

“I wanted to thank you for setting "These bloody drops", which I found an extremely moving setting, to which I felt I was able to respond in an unusually (for me) free and uninhibited way. I found the whole experience very fulfilling and worth all the time and effort in preparation ... . I know that Cathy also felt very elated at the end of the two days, and seemed to have entirely changed her view about whether she would like to be involved again next time... I thoroughly enjoyed working with you.”

WALSALL WAKES

Walsall Wakes was commissioned by Walsall Community Arts from writer David Calcutt, for Walsall’s Day in the Dome in 2000. Heather worked with Round Midnight Theatre Company to compose the music, both live and recorded, and acted as a Musical Director with a huge cast of local people.

"Heather’s music for large-scale community theatre is excellent - powerful and accessible."
Glen Buglass, Principal Officer, Walsall Community Arts

"Heather’s compositions brought the piece to life and gave it a contemporary yet traditional feel. I look forward to working with Heather on future projects."
Stuart Lane, Round Midnight Ltd
